- COR (Contracting Officer's Representative)
- A government employee designated to monitor contract performance, inspect deliverables, and ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Deliverable
- A tangible or intangible product or service that must be completed and delivered under a government contract.
- FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation)
- The primary regulation governing how the federal government acquires supplies and services.
- Flowdown
- The process of passing contract requirements from a prime contractor to subcontractors.
- Invoice
- A formal request for payment submitted by a contractor to the government for work completed or services rendered.
- Limitations on Subcontracting
- A FAR requirement that limits the percentage of contract work that can be subcontracted.
- NAICS Code
- North American Industry Classification System Code. A standardized code that identifies your industry.
- Opportunity
- A government contract opportunity posted on SAM.gov or other sources.
- Prime Contractor
- A business that contracts directly with the federal government to perform work or provide services.
- Proposal
- A formal response to a government solicitation that describes how your company will meet the requirements.
- PSC (Product Service Code)
- A code used by the federal government to classify products and services.
- SAM.gov
- System for Award Management. The official U.S. government website for federal procurement opportunities.
- Set-Aside
- A government contract reserved for a specific category of businesses, such as small businesses or minority-owned businesses.
- Solicitation
- A formal government request for proposals (RFP), quotes (RFQ), or bids (IFB).
- Subcontractor
- A business hired by a prime contractor to perform part of the government contract work.
- UEI (Unique Entity Identifier)
- A unique identifier assigned to businesses in SAM.gov. Replaced the older DUNS number.
